The next generation of vehicles is going electric and in 2017 Nio EP9 took to lead the sports EV market. Its design and power scream high-performance with a build that cuts through the air easily. This vehicle is the first of its kind in the world and its numbers are top class.

The maximum speed of this vehicle hits 217mph with an acceleration that takes it to 124.3mph in only 7.1 seconds. This makes it the fastest sports EV that is currently available, it is also a beast of power. The range of this car is 427km on a single charge, with over 1MW of peak power coming from its four electric motors.

Nio also brags that this vehicle has the downforce of an F1 racing car. This means that no matter how on the track a rider is on, the car will stay in place. Battery power on this vehicle comes with a power train of 777V. These numbers are impressive, but Nio needs to brace itself for the coming competition.

Originally this car launched back in 2017 and ever since then other EVs have caught up with the Nio EP9. The range of this sports EV isn’t up to some vehicles from other companies. Speed is also slacking back as we now have EVs with more than 200mph as their maximum. Nio might still be clear of them in terms of acceleration, but not for long.

We are also now seeing traditional performance car brands readying themselves to enter the EV market. Alpine is a good example that Nio needs to look out for in the nearest future. Will Nio stay in the confinement of SUVs and saloon electric cars, or will they take the bull by the horn?

We are more than ready for the next high-performance EV from Nio. The market competition is also readying to launch their high-performance EVs. Will the Nio EP9 have a successor to carry on its legacy, or is this just a fading reputation?

200W fast charging raises questions regarding charging speeds in the smartphone industry https://www.techgoing.com/200w-fast-charging-raises-questions-regarding-charging-speeds-in-the-smartphone-industry/ Tue, 19 Jul 2022 15:44:49 +0000 https://www.techgoing.com/?p=9167 The just launched iQOO 10 Pro with 200W fast charging ability raises questions as to what charging improvements we should expect in future.

The post 200W fast charging raises questions regarding charging speeds in the smartphone industry appeared first on TechGoing.

At MWC22, OPPO brought to the stage a groundbreaking improvement which iQOO has imitated with 200W fast charging on their new device. This charging technology from OPPO (240W SuperVOOC charge) is the fastest that is attainable in the smartphone industry now. For safety reasons, the company uses what it calls a “Battery Health Engine” to help curb degradation as a result of the charging speed.

Some other companies have made series of improvements to their charging technologies. The aim is simply to help users get a full charge in less time. But, OPPO has set the bar above what the industry previously held as the fastest charging speed for a smartphone. It’s been over four months since this charging technology from OPPO came into existence, but it is just reaching the hands of users.

Ultimately, we knew that OPPO or one of its sister companies will launch with this technology. Now, we are seeing iQOO with something close to what OPPO debuted. The new iQOO 10 series uses 200W fast charging, whereas OPPO showcased 240W fast charge at MWC22. Just 40W apart from each other, this means that it won’t be long before we see the actual 240W behemoth on an actual device.

The improvement in charging technology and overall charging speed leads us to wonder what is next. According to OPPO, their 240W fast charger can take a typical, 4500mAh battery to 100% in just 9 minutes. The iQOO 10 Pro offers a 200W fast charge which will fully charge the 4700mAh battery in 10 minutes.

These charging figures are impressive as they ensure a full battery in no time. A feature that is useful in regions without a steady supply of electricity. But, most companies like Apple and Samsung have not made any significant improvements to their charging speeds. Despite the industry’s improvement on charging speeds across different brands.

What is next (regarding charging technology) will remain the question on the minds of most people today. How fast will the next charging speed be? Will the industry pause improving on wired charging speeds and turn their attention to wireless charging speeds? These questions will continue puzzling our minds until we see a new charging innovation come to the industry.

Global chip shortages have been plaguing the tech world, and the digital camera market is feeling its effect. Yes, chips are important in the production of cameras, these chips serve as the brain of cameras. That is where the magic happens, all actions taken on the camera need to go through a processor before one can get any result.

But, certain factors make the production of these chips more difficult. There is a high demand for chips, but few in circulation. The demand for this commodity is high, but the supply is low. This leads to a rise in prices which can affect sales.

According to statistics, in Q2 2022 there was a 10.4% drop in global shipping of digital cameras. Demand for digital cameras is plunging around the world as less than one million units ship in the past 18 months. Different regions hold different sale records for their camera shipments. For instance, China has good sales of digital cameras, but on a worldwide scale sales are plummeting.

Chip shortage has a role in this unimpressive sale, as seen in the digital camera market. But, it is important to note yet another factor that might be pulling sales of digital cameras down. Smartphones, with every new release these devices are getting better in photography.

Some smartphones like HonorHuawei, and Apple can even film movies due to their quality and stability. Other brands are also doing a good job with their camera abilities. This puts out the need for a digital camera, now only professional photographers will need a digital camera. Some might even wonder why they need to carry such weight around when their smartphones can do the job.

Chip shortage and the improvement in smartphone photography abilities are making sales difficult for digital cameras. Will the digital camera market see a rebound in sales? Possibly, if chip production at all levels returns to normal, camera manufacturers will be able to produce more. This will help satisfy the need for digital cameras and possibly get global sales to normal again.

Transsion Holdings is fuelling its expansion beyond its dominant market, Africa https://www.techgoing.com/transsion-holdings-is-fuelling-its-expansion-beyond-its-dominant-market-africa/ Sun, 03 Jul 2022 16:37:30 +0000 https://www.techgoing.com/?p=5795 Transsion Holdings is pushing to drive its devices into more markets other than its areas of dominance such as Africa and South Asia.

Transsion Holdings stands out as the major smartphone vendor in Africa. They also wield a measure of influence in the South Asian smartphone market. But the company is now planning to move into other emerging markets.

In a survey conducted by the company, they made note of a trend in the smartphone market. This trend is the growing need for smartphones in emerging markets. Transsion hopes to fill this need with their production companies.

The task of becoming a household brand in emerging markets isn’t going to be an easy one. Competition from popular brands like Samsung and enthusiast brands like OPPO will undoubtedly prove challenging to Transsion. Recently we have seen a lot of efforts Transsion has been making to promote its devices to a wider audience.

Transsion Holdings

The first of such seeming expansion moves came with the Tecno Phantom X launch. Tecno a Transsion Holding subsidiary attempted to enter markets other than Africa and South Asia with this device. But the rate of acceptance wasn’t as impressive as in Africa its dominant market. But it is essential to understand Transsion’s dominance in the African market.

The secret to the smartphone market monopoly of Transsion Holdings in Africa is due to the various brands under its umbrella. First, of which is Tecno with the highest adoption rate, Infinix follows closely behind. Last on the list is itel with the lowest adoption rate of all three brands under the Transsion business. A combination of all three smartphone brands gives Transsion a 42.7% shipment share in Q1, 2022.

This transition to other markets will be challenging, but it might prove successful for Transsion Holdings. The past few years have seen Transsion brands making innovative moves in the smartphone world. We look forward to seeing how Transsion handles the challenges and expand its business beyond its strong grounds.

Nothing Phone (1) hands-on video: front design, stunning strip lighting revealed https://www.techgoing.com/nothing-phone-1-design-and-strip-lightening-is-stunning-and-useful/ Tue, 21 Jun 2022 18:14:34 +0000 https://www.techgoing.com/?p=4286 A sneak peek into the actual Nothing Phone (1) design shows off its Glyph interface which are LED strips on the back of the smartphone.

The post Nothing Phone (1) hands-on video: front design, stunning strip lighting revealed appeared first on TechGoing.

]]>
Thanks to MKBHD, we now have a glimpse of the Nothing Phone (1) design in all its elegance. This device will launch next month, but its first 100 units auction is already live. The reveal of this device’s design breaks the suspense around the new device.

If there was an award for the most hyped smartphone of 2022, the Nothing Phone (1) will have no competition. Certainly, its design lives up to the hype. MKBHD’s video is not a full review but just delves into the design of this device.

A delve into the use of Nothing Phone (1) design

This device takes the transparent form factor of Nothing’s first product, the Ear (1). Its back panel reveals some internal compartments of this smartphone. From MKBHD’s unit which comes in white colour, we can’t see any vivid internal component. This design is stylish and will get heads turning to check it out. But its design doesn’t just stop at being stylish, it is also very useful.

The usability of this device can be seen in its light stripes on the back. Notifications LEDs are a useful feature that most devices today tend to drop off MKBHD mentioned. The most recent device that embraces a noticeable LED notification is the OPPO Reno 7 Pro. But Nothing Phone (1) design takes LED notification to a new level.

Nothing Phone (1) design

A total of four LED strips (Glyph interface) are on the back of this device, each taking a different pattern from the other. The first strip is around the dual camera setup, the next strip is at the far right side of the back panel. Following through is the most noticeable strip which circles the wireless charging pad, the last strip is just above the charging port.

The software of this device also permits the customization of these LED strips for various purposes. Each strip emits a soft light which can notify a user of the following:

  • Incoming calls
  • Wireless charging
  • Wired charging
  • Full light for cameras

The Nothing Phone (1) design isn’t just a gimmick, this is an identity that Nothing is trying to build. This is a device that will appeal to that one percent, users of this smartphone will stand out from the crowd.

Samsung Galaxy S22 FE production might become obsolete https://www.techgoing.com/samsung-galaxy-s22-fe-production-might-become-obsolete/ Thu, 16 Jun 2022 01:30:00 +0000 https://www.techgoing.com/?p=4136 After considering past models we can come to the conclusion that the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE might not launch.

The post Samsung Galaxy S22 FE production might become obsolete appeared first on TechGoing.

]]>
There are a few factors that point to the possibility of the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE not launching. Some people will be looking out for the launch of this device, but their hopes might be cut short. Issues surrounding the launch of the S21 FE fuel speculations that there will be no S22 FE.

Samsung got fans on their feet and jumping for joy with the launch of the S20 FE. This device was the first of its kind, a fan edition for the Galaxy S flagship series. At inception, the FE drew a lot of attention to itself, after the first launch sales and impressions proved positive. The future of the Samsung Galaxy S FE seemed to be bright, but things took an entirely different turn.

Samsung Galaxy S22 FE

It is important to note that the FE or fan edition is a cheaper Samsung flagship device. Despite the price reduction, the original Galaxy S20 FE retains some flagship specifications. But with the launch of the S21 FE things got a bit rocky, the positioning of its launch date did away with its thrill.

Leaks of the S21 FE began circulating on the internet from the month of June. But last year’s Galaxy FE became available a few weeks before the S22 series launch. Was that bad planning, or a purposeful action? Whatever it was, the S21 FE slowly faded into the shadows while the S22 series took the spotlight.

Now it seems like Samsung is taking that same route with the S22 FE. At this time of the year, no information or leak is available pointing to the presence of a possible Galaxy S22 FE. We really can’t conclude as to the existence of a certain Samsung Galaxy S22 FE. We will need to see how things unfold in the coming months. Whether Samsung will delay or eliminate the FE variant of the S22 series, we do not know.

Sony IMX800 debut on the Honor 70 series, here are some clarifications https://www.techgoing.com/sony-imx800-debut-on-the-honor-70-series-here-are-some-clarifications/ Wed, 01 Jun 2022 01:30:00 +0000 https://www.techgoing.com/?p=3418 The long awaited Sony IMX800 made its debut on the Honor 70 series. Here are a few necessary clarifications regarding its details.

The post Sony IMX800 debut on the Honor 70 series, here are some clarifications appeared first on TechGoing.

]]>
The Honor 70 series is the first set of smartphones to feature the Sony IMX800 camera sensor. Before the launch of these devices, a lot of leaks had different perceptions regarding this sensor. The size and megapixels of this sensor from previous leaks turn out to have a few discrepancies.

Information from leaks showed off the IMX800 as having a 1/1.1-inch sensor and using a 50MP lens. This information increased expectations for the IMX800 sensor. Simply because, at that size, it was to become one of the world’s largest sensors.

Sony IMX800

Already, Sharp Aquos R6 holds the top place for the largest sensor on a smartphone. The sensor on this device measures at an impressive 1-inch. Beating this will take a lot from other manufacturers, and Sony wasn’t aiming for the top spot, but a suitable place below the Aquos R6. At the launch of the Honor 70 series, we confirmed that this sensor from Sony is a 1/1.49-inch sensor.

Another correction to what we previously had expectations for is the number of megapixels present on this sensor. Previously felt it’d house a 50MP lens, but this sensor made its debut with a 54MP lens. It also supports a 4-to-1 binning process, which improves the size of pixels the lens produces.

Hence, the Sony IMX800 isn’t the largest sensor out there, it still sits under sensors on the likes of the Sony 1 IV. After its debut on the Honor 70 series, we expected to see this sensor on more devices. Possibly in future, Sony will attempt to beat what the Aquos R6 sensor was able to achieve. Larger sensors mean more light penetration hence resulting in better pictures and the evolution of camera sensors is just beginning.

These are the exact reasons Microsoft’s new release for the Edge browser was made. Let’s take a look at what this update will bring for users.

The added features include the ability to pin PWA/websites installed as apps to the taskbar from their menus. Enabling users with the developer settings turned on to more easily access all web apps installed directly from their Microsoft Windows home screen. This is under the category of accessibility features.

The second feature will enable users easily search through their browser history. This feature is available by default for all users in the developer community. Finding stuff you previously browsed will be more straightforward thanks to this upgrade. Users can make such history searches with simple and natural English, like, “YouTube from last week.”

The last new feature will enable users to set the zoom display type. Making use of the currently set display scale, it picks the exact level the zoom display will start. With this update If you set your display scale to 100% then the zoom display on the Edge Dev browser will start at 100%.

Asides from these three new features, a few other changes and corrections come loaded with the new update. Such features as fixes to a few crash problems that plagued previous Edge versions. This new Edge Dev Browser 103 also bring ms solution to other issues present in the Internet Explorer. All of these updates and improvements aim to create a more useable browser!
