According to the latest patent published by The Hague Patent and Trademark Office, Microsoft obtained a new technology patent for Surface foldable phones, demonstrating the use of flexible screen substrates that can be deformed as the screen is folded.

Attached is a patent schematic here. Compared to the drop-shaped designs used by phone brands such as Samsung and OPPO, Microsoft’s folding solution is more like an onion, with a flat bottom, which transfers the folding pressure to both sides.

In the design description, Microsoft stated that this foldable device can be unfolded 180 degrees, and there will be no gap in the middle when it is closed, preventing unwanted foreign objects from entering the interior of the device.

Microsoft will hold a hardware conference on September 21. In addition to Surface hardware, the theme will also discuss Win11, Microsoft 365 and various AI products.

Several Microsoft “portable computing devices” have been certified by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). The FCC did not disclose any information about the device, but foreign media believe that this is the long-awaited Surface Laptop Go 3 or Surface Go 4.

In FCC filings, Microsoft’s new product is labeled “Microsoft Corporation Portable Computing Device” with codes C3K-2067, C3K 2067, C3K2067 and C3K2O60.

Microsoft has previously used the “C3K” certification mark on a number of Surface products, but mostly associated with the Surface Go and Surface Laptop series. It is worth mentioning that Microsoft also received approval for the Intel Wi-Fi 6 module AX201.

According to documents seen by Windows Latest, Microsoft’s next-generation Surface Laptop Go 3 or Surface Go 4 appears to be using Intel’s Wi-Fi 6 network card AX201D2W, supporting the 802.11ax standard and the latest version of the Bluetooth standard.

It was previously reported that Microsoft is expected to launch new products such as Surface Laptop Studio 2, Surface Laptop Go 3 and Surface Go 4 at this conference. However, there will be no changes in appearance, but the internal CPU and GPU will be upgraded.

In addition, Microsoft will announce more information about Microsoft 365 Copilot productivity services at this event. Microsoft has invited a number of companies to test this service, and the official may announce the official launch date at this conference.

Previously, it was reported that Microsoft would announce relevant information about the “Win12” system at this conference, but the media believed that this was unlikely.

When Microsoft first officially launched Windows 11 more than two years ago, it detailed a number of touch-focused improvements, mostly around its Surface Pro X device. Today, the company reiterates those improvements and goes into more detail about why Windows 11 and Surface are the best combination in a new blog post titled Microsoft Surface: Surface Built to Bring the Best of Windows 11 Built for the best features”.

According to Microsoft:

Surface and Windows 11 are adaptive, optimizing the tablet, laptop and desktop experience as users change posture, switching between modes with ease and automatically. When the pen is pulled out, the pen menu opens immediately.

Next, Microsoft introduced how Windows 11 can make Surface devices more energy efficient, up to 61%. For example, its dynamic refresh rate technology can switch between 60Hz and 120Hz according to the usage scenario. According to Microsoft:

Microsoft engineers wanted more processing power for the Surface, but also wanted improved battery life and performance. In addition, designers also want a thinner and lighter form factor. They do this with some subtle innovations, like when workers switch to writing mode, the display automatically boosts to 120Hz for the best stylus experience. Once the Surface switches to another mode, the display reverts to 60Hz to reduce the load on the battery. For all of these challenges, Surface average battery life increased by 61%, allowing employees to work longer between charges.

Of course, Microsoft also talked about improved security, which is one of the main advantages of Windows 11 that the company has been emphasizing. Microsoft claims that businesses and organizations report a 58% reduction in cybersecurity concerns after using Windows 11 Pro devices.

This is thanks to Microsoft maintaining all the code in the Surface security stack, from the firmware to the operating system to the cloud. Surface devices run the most secure Windows operating system ever, with cryptographic processor security built into the CPU.

Finally, Microsoft talked about the ease of deploying and managing Surface devices with Windows Autopatch. Deployment speed has increased by 25 percent, while help calls have been reduced by 80 percent, resulting in savings of more than $1 million, the company claims.

Deploying and managing Surface is now easier than ever, with 25% faster deployments and 80% fewer helpline calls. These savings are all thanks to Windows Autopilot, designed, engineered and tested on Surface for a zero-touch deployment experience.

Microsoft announced that it will no longer produce and sell Microsoft-branded computer accessories, including mice, keyboards and cameras. This means that Microsoft-branded computer accessories will be withdrawn from the market, ending a nearly 40-year history. Microsoft said it will focus on Surface-branded computer accessories, including mice, keyboards, pens, docking stations, adaptive accessories and more.

Microsoft branded computer accessories used to be the market leader. Starting with the introduction of the first Microsoft mouse in 1983, Microsoft has continued to develop various innovative products such as ergonomic keyboards, wireless mice, HD cameras, etc. However, as market competition intensified and user needs changed, Microsoft-branded computer accessories gradually lost their advantages and appeal.

Microsoft launched the Surface brand in 2012 with the aim of creating high-end, stylish and powerful computers and tablet devices. the surface also has its own line of accessories, such as Surface mouse, Surface keyboard, Surface pen and so on. Microsoft also recently announced a new Surface Dock that provides multiple ports and features for any computer.

Microsoft says the Surface brand will be the new anchor of its computer accessories business, and that Microsoft-branded computer accessories will be discontinued when the inventory is depleted. This also means that users who want to buy Microsoft-branded computer accessories will have to hurry up. For those who like Microsoft-branded computer accessories, this may be a small regret.
