According to a list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Microsoft recently obtained a technology patent, introducing a new system suitable for Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 applications, which can be based on the user’s Use preferences to recommend new features.

Microsoft’s patent believes that different users may have different interaction methods and different experiences when using services, social media or collaborative websites. When Microsoft promotes new UI or new features, these changes may make users feel uncomfortable and uneasy.

Microsoft has designed a new feature push system for this purpose. This technology does not stop updating Microsoft 365 or other applications, but uses machine learning, intelligent user experience, and collaboration services to gain a deeper understanding of user behavior through collected relevant data.

Microsoft will evaluate new features on a personalized basis based on these user behavior indicators and recommend different new features to different users.

Note: Microsoft can set a threshold for each new feature, and then compare it with the user’s preference score. If it is equal to or greater than the threshold, it will be updated; if not, it will not be updated.

The system is fully intelligent and operates on its own without human input, although the technology has the option of being validated and adjusted by an IT manager or organizational manager.

According to the official Microsoft 365 blog post, Microsoft has invited Microsoft 365 Targeted Release users who purchased Teams Premium licenses to test the public preview version of Teams and can access and view the participation information of meeting members.

The part of Microsoft’s official blog post is as follows:

Engagement information can be used to evaluate attendees' interest in the conference topic, as well as their views on the conference format and structure.

Meeting organizers can collect and view attendee interaction data such as reactions, raised hands, and camera turns on the Attendance tab after the meeting or webinar ends.

Checking out new features is very simple. Users who have organized a past meeting can go to that meeting and click the Chat pod. They can then click the Attendance tab to get statistics such as meeting start and end times, average attendance time, and more.

Currently, this new feature is only available on the web version of Teams, and meeting organizers can access it through the Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers.

According to the blog post, attendance and engagement tabs will be added to the Windows and Mac Teams apps “soon,” but there’s no specific timeline for when the feature will be added to those apps.

Microsoft 365 is a productivity service of Microsoft. In addition to applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, there are also some applications developed specifically for the service. Today, Microsoft announced a slew of new features for Microsoft 365 free and paid users.

The service’s Edge and Chrome browser extensions now have a new look, according to a post on the Microsoft 365 blog. After installing these browser extensions, users can simply click on the Microsoft 365 icon on the taskbar and follow the More Docs link to see all the content created with these apps, such as Word documents and Excel sheets.

It is noticed that users who use the Windows version or Microsoft 365 applications accessed through the Microsoft365.com website can also use Microsoft Designer to generate AI applications to create new content. Additionally, Microsoft 365 has added a Clipchamp feature for video editing.

On the mobile side, the Microsoft 365 app for iOS now supports adding widgets for apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notes, PDF, and Scan to the home screen of an Apple iPhone or iPad.

According to Microsoft:

Widgets take up minimal space on your iOS device's home screen and allow you to create content with just a single touch. The medium-sized widget allows you to create three types of content from your home screen. The large widget offers the most value, not only allowing you to create three types of content, but also to open recently used files with one click.

Microsoft plans to add lock screen widget support to these apps in the near future.

Finally, the Microsoft 365 app for Android adds support for the Clipper clipboard, allowing users to extract content from photos, videos, and apps.

Microsoft 365

Microsoft provides two access methods:

Via Clipboard Notifications, a sticky notification from the Microsoft 365 app that stays in your notification panel and enables you to extract images and text from your current screen with one tap.

With the clipboard floating icon, you can place it anywhere on the edge of the screen, and with a single tap, you can extract text and images from the screen without leaving the current content.

The feature is gradually rolling out to Microsoft 365 Android users, and the clipboard feature is not available on devices with Android work profiles.

Microsoft recently released a blog post, launching the “Simplified Sharing” experience, which mainly optimizes the sharing function for Microsoft 365, allowing users to share files, images, links and other content more easily and quickly.

Microsoft said that Microsoft 365 users open the sharing dialog more than 800 million times a month, and the newly introduced Simplified Sharing experience supports more than 50 Microsoft 365 applications on the desktop, web and mobile.

Microsoft’s official description is as follows:

When you want to email someone a link to a file, just enter a name, a group, or an email and the system will make suggestions based on your most frequent collaborators.

You can also choose to add a short message, and once you hit send, OneDrive will create an email and send it to the recipients of your choice!

Microsoft has also simplified the process of copying files to send to other Microsoft 365 apps:

After users copy the file, they can paste it directly into a Microsoft Teams chat, document, or email and adjust access permissions for others.

If you want more fine-grained control over how others can access your files, such as granting them edit, view, review permissions, or if you want to block downloads, just click the gear icon to customize further.

In recent months, the Microsoft 365 Insider team has been testing some new features of the online meeting service Teams. Today, two of the new features have been officially opened to all users. The official Microsoft Teams blog reveals that the two new features are custom settings for meeting captions and an expletive filter switch in meetings.

It is noted that the custom settings feature for meeting captions was added to the public preview of Microsoft Teams in May, when Microsoft said, “We’ve introduced a new caption settings panel that allows you to customize the font color and size, increase the number of lines displayed, and change the position of the caption in the meeting window. We’ve also added a feature that allows you to scroll through the most recent captions.”

The swear filter switch feature was added to the public preview of Microsoft Teams in April, with Microsoft stating, “With the newly introduced switch, you can now control whether you want to continue using the swear filter feature we offer, or prefer to see every word displayed as is.”

The Microsoft Teams division has made a number of other new features available in its public preview that will be rolled out to all users in the near future. These include a new payment app that allows companies to collect money from customers directly in Microsoft Teams meetings. There is also a feature that allows team members in a meeting to work together to write notes and other content during the session. In addition, a few days ago, Microsoft 365 Insider users were able to start experiencing the dynamic background feature supported in Microsoft Teams meetings.

Microsoft officials said that after Teams users enable this feature, they can see a new interface before joining the meeting. Users can adjust the headset volume, test the microphone, and more. After the user completes the device debugging, he can choose the “Join Now” button to host or participate in the conference activities.
