Apple unveiled three new Apple Watch models at its Far Out event, one of which is the Apple Watch Ultra. this new wearable has a huge 49mm display with a titanium finish. It also offers some new tweaks, such as a better built-in GPS. one Reddit user showed how the sensor compared to the old Apple Watch by cutting the grass – and the results were impressive.

Reddit user Suburbandad1999 posted the article “GPS Accuracy of Apple Watch Ultra vs Series 4”. By comparing the tracking capabilities of the two Apple Watches, Suburbandad1999 was able to describe what Apple said in its press release.

Apple says that for most people, the traditional GPS solution with only L1 GPS works well most of the time. But it gets tricky when tall buildings, trees or dense foliage block the satellites and the newer L5 GPS solution improves the way the watch tracks movement to a large extent.

According to Apple, this solution enables advanced signal processing, reduces many errors and provides a more stable signal in environments such as dense cities.

“For the first time ever, accurate dual-band GPS in Apple Watch integrates L1 and the newest frequency, L5, plus new positioning algorithms. Apple Watch Ultra delivers the most accurate GPS of any Apple Watch to date and provides users with the most accurate training and race distance, speed and route data for users’ training and racing,” Apple said.

While the Apple Watch Ultra is designed for those who enjoy extreme activities, it’s interesting to note that even mowing the lawn feels like a completely different activity with this new watch.
