According to Ross Young, CEO of research firm DSCC, the 12.9-inch iPad Air is expected to be released in May and will be equipped with the same Mini-LED display as the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro model.

Currently, the existing 10.9-inch iPad Air is equipped with a traditional LCD panel, and switching to Mini-LED technology will increase the brightness of HDR content, deeper blacks, and more. Another benefit is that Mini-LED displays will result in lower power consumption. Apple uses Mini-LED display technology on its latest 12.9-inch iPad Pro model and MacBook Pro notebooks.

For reference, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro on sale uses a 2D backlight system with 2596 full-array local dimming zones, 2732 x 2048 pixel resolution, 264 ppi, and supports ProMotion adaptive refresh rate technology. Additionally, the screen has a peak brightness of 1,600 nits (HDR content only).

New products in the spring of 2024 include iPad Pro with OLED display and M3 chip, and new Apple Pencil 3. However, it was previously reported that Apple will not hold a special press conference, but will directly release new products.

Mark Gurman revealed that Apple will launch the new iPad Pro/Air tablet in the second week of May.
