Apple launches new firmware for item tracker AirTag 2A24e

0

Apple today released a new firmware update for its AirTag item tracker, version 2A24e, which is higher than the 1A301 firmware released in April.

Apple does not provide release notes for AirTag updates, so it’s not clear what’s new in this update.

Users cannot force an update to the AirTag firmware, as the update is done through a connected iPhone OTA. To ensure that the update is available, you can put AirTag in the iPhone connection range and wait for the firmware to update to AirTag, and check the current AirTag firmware version through the “Find My” app.

Apple will make this firmware update available on a “rolling basis,” pushing it to AirTag users starting today through December 1. This staggered push allows Apple to ensure that the firmware update works as expected before it is made available to all users.
