Apple today rolled out a new 5B58 firmware for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, the first generation AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, an update to the 4E71 firmware released in May. Also earlier this week, Apple released the 5B58 firmware for the AirPods Pro 2.
Apple did not provide release notes on the content of the AirPods firmware update, but a support document provided by the company with the release information shows that the 5B58 update for AirPods Pro 2 adds “bug fixes and other improvements” and no other details.
There’s no standard way to upgrade the AirPods software, but the firmware is usually installed OTA when AirPods are connected to an iOS device. Put the AirPods in the charging case, connect them to a power source, and then pair the AirPods with your iPhone or iPad and you should be able to upgrade.
