Rockstar has recently launched a version 1.03 update patch for the PS platform version of the game. The updated content is as follows:

  • Added an option to enable 60 frames per second for the game on PS5 via Backwards Compatibility.
  • Added an option to “Enable subtitles” directly when launching the game for the first time.
  • General bug fixes and improvements.

After installing the relevant patches, if players use PS5 to play the game in backward compatibility mode, there will be an additional “60 frame option” in the game’s “Picture Settings” for selection.

However, the relevant update is only available for PS5. On PS4 Pro and regular PS4, the game still runs at 30 frames, and on Xbox Series X|S, “Red Dead Redemption” is still locked at 30 frames.

Recently, when answering questions from fans, the community and marketing director of Insomnia Group confirmed that the cutscenes in the new game “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” use Dolby Atmos original sound mixing technology, so this game will be the first batch of PS5 platforms to natively support Dolby One of the games with Atmos technology. However, it is still unknown whether the actual game experience natively supports this technology.

In addition, Insomnia Group technical director Mike Fitzgerald also talked about some of the progress in 3D sound effects in a recent interview with IGN.

Sony’s PlayStation Stars program is a free loyalty program that lets players earn points, buy products and unlock collectibles by purchasing and playing PlayStation games. These collectibles are game-themed digital items that showcase players’ preferences and achievements. However, the program is currently only accessible through Sony’s PlayStation App, inconveniencing players.

However, according to gaming website TwistedVoxel, Sony is about to integrate the PlayStation Stars feature directly into the PS5 console in a new PS5 update. This will allow gamers to access and share their PlayStation Stars levels and collectibles directly on their console without the need for a mobile app, one of the promises Sony made last year.

It is noted that players can customize the information they want to share with others in the PS5’s privacy settings menu. For example, they can choose to share their PlayStation Stars rating, or show off the collectables that they’ve earned by participating in different activities.PlayStation Plus members can also earn extra points by purchasing games through the PlayStation Online Store.

To protect the privacy of underage players, or to avoid showing younger players collectibles that may not be appropriate for them, these options are only available to adult user accounts in PlayStation Stars-providing regions.

Sony’s integration of the PlayStation Stars feature directly into the PS5 console is a smart move that may increase player interest in this often-overlooked loyalty program. However, it remains to be seen if it will get players to complete some of the tougher challenges in order to show off their unlocked collectibles.
