Qualcomm Technologies announced the launch of the latest intelligent video collaboration solution Qualcomm QCS8250 video collaboration reference design, using an integrated hardware and software platform, equipped with terminal-side AI and cameras, natively supporting unified communication applications.

Qualcomm says the solution is built to enhance virtual conferencing and collaboration in today’s modern hybrid office environment.

Qualcomm QCS8250 Video Collaboration Reference Design combines audio, video and AI technologies to deliver features that reduce distractions, increase productivity and fully immerse virtual meeting participants, while in-person participants can easily interact with on-screen colleagues.

The all-in-one reference design is built for medium and large meeting rooms, and can run a unified communication application natively, or run in the terminal mode in a meeting initiated by a PC. The platform leverages the Qualcomm AI Suite for Video Collaboration/Video Conferencing to deliver customizable on-device AI capabilities specifically designed to enhance the video conferencing experience, including:

AI group view: Qualcomm’s video AI technology will automatically detect people in the meeting room and smoothly zoom in or out through three ultra-high-definition cameras (ultra wide-angle, wide-angle and telephoto) to provide a comprehensive view of all participant’s best view.

AI speaker framing: By combining Qualcomm Technologies’ audio capture and video AI technologies and switching almost seamlessly between three 4K Ultra HD cameras, the platform recognizes and zooms in on who is speaking to provide a more detailed close-up of the speaker.

AI Noise Suppression: State-of-the-art neural network-based noise suppression technology isolates the speaker’s voice and eliminates background noise distractions, such as opening food packages, turning pages, typing with a pen or keyboard, without traditional solutions Multiple microphones as required by the program.

In addition, the Qualcomm QCS8250 AI framework is designed in a modular manner, making it easy for third-party independent software providers to support other AI features.

The Qualcomm QCS8250 video collaboration reference design has been pre-certified and tested with Microsoft Teams as a ready-to-use platform that enables OEMs to quickly build, customize and release new video conferencing products with the latest AI audio and video features.

The Qualcomm QCS8250 video collaboration reference design is available now. Lenovo has launched a display based on this solution – ThinkSmart View Plus, priced at $2,345 (currently about 15,829 CNY).
