CFD Gaming PCIe 5.0 SSD hands-on: Read and write speeds exceed 10GB/s

Japanese manufacturer CFD Gaming previously took the lead in selling the PCIe Gen 5.0 SSD, 2TB priced at 49,980 yen (currently about RMB 2604), and now a blogger has gotten the product.

According to a picture posted by Twitter blogger @momomo_us, he has gotten his hands on the SSD and a benchmark test using CrystalDiskMark confirmed that the SSD can easily exceed 10 GB/s sequential read and write speeds. However, write speeds are slightly lower for smaller capacities (~9.5 GB/s).

In addition, the SSD’s fan runs at a very high RPM during testing, much louder than the standard cooler on the paired Core i7-13700K processor. This may be due to the high usage during the storage test, which is not expected to be as loud during normal use.

The series SSDs feature an M.2 Type 2280 D2 (double-sided) design with a small built-in 20mm fan to aid in heat dissipation, a Qunar PS5026-E26 main controller, Micron 3D TLC B58R flash memory, and a 2TB model with 4GB DRAM cache.
