MagSafe 3 Charging Cable Now Comes in New Colors Matches MacBook Air

Apple today introduced three new colors of USB-C to MagSafe 3 charging cables that match the MacBook Air, including Space Gray, Midnight and Starlight, priced at $49. Apple already includes a color-matched MagSafe 3 charging cable in the box with the new MacBook Air, but the cable can now be ordered separately from Apple’s online store for those who want an additional cable or need a replacement.

The cable is also compatible with the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models released last year. This means that users who purchase the new Space Gray MacBook Pro will finally get a matching Space Gray MagSafe 3 cable, as Apple previously chose to bundle the silver cable with the Space Gray model.

MagSafe technology enables the cable to attach magnetically to the MacBook. If someone trips over the cable, it automatically disconnects so the MacBook doesn’t drag itself to the ground. The cable is two meters long and features a braided design for added durability.

The new MacBook Air is available for order until it ships on July 15. The notebook features Apple’s new M2 chip and has been redesigned with a slightly larger 13.6-inch display with one bang and flatter body edges. Pricing starts at $1,199, while the previous-generation MacBook Air with the M1 chip is still sold for $999.
