Originally, we held hopes that the Huawei Mate 50 series will launch in July. Recent information now confirms that the Mate 50 will launch a month later than we expected. The launch shift to August will give room for the Huawei Nova 10 series launch and HarmonyOS 3.0 preparation.

There is little or no information on the specifications of these coming flagship devices. They might use 4G processors since Huawei devices face challenges to access 5G equipment due to the US sanctions. Despite this limitation, the Mate 50 series will come with notable upgrades.

The Huawei Mate 50 series will bring upgrades to the P50 camera system.

The camera system on the coming Mate series will see some obvious upgrades. In comparison with the P50 series, the Mate 50 series will upgrade the imaging system, hence improving the photography experience. This upgrade will occur despite the absence of Leica’s involvement in manufacturing the camera lens. Possibly, the Mate 50 series will reclaim Huawei’s top spot on DxOMark ranking from the Honor Magic 40 Ultimate.

Devices in this series will use an LTPO screen and support up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The said processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 4G mobile platform. This doesn’t rule out 5G connectivity for the coming Mate series, since China Unicom can produce 5G enabling cases for Huawei devices.

The HarmonyOS 3.0 will bring notable upgrades and improvements to the previous version. Such improvements will be obvious in the overall operating performance. At its release with the Huawei Mate 50 series, it’d also be available for other Huawei devices via over-the-air (OTA) upgrades.
