Apple’s new patent: MacBook made with glass, keyboard can be bent and deformed

0

According to Patently Apple, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office today granted Apple a new patent for a future MacBook or MacBook-like device with an overall glass form factor and a deformable piece of glass in the keyboard area for a better typing experience.

According to the patent, the device has an overall glass structure and the glass on the keyboard is reinforced glass that is about 40 microns thick or thinner. Due to the thinness and flexibility of the glass, when the force of the keys is applied to the glass sheet during typing, the glass sheet will be deformed under this force, while the part of the keyboard without the force applied will not be deformed or deformed very little.

This reinforced glass provides a more comfortable typing experience with the partial deformation of the thin glass compared to thicker or less flexible glass, as the user can feel the depression similar to a traditional keyboard.

According to the last keyboard cross-section of the patent, the figure shows that the glass on the keyboard can produce bumps, contours or other traditional keyboard shapes in order to facilitate the planning of different keys on the keyboard, to facilitate the user to get a more familiar keyboard, because each key of the traditional keyboard is spaced apart so that the user will type faster and make fewer mistakes.

Finally, it should be mentioned that as a patent, it is still unknown whether this technology will be applied.
