If you use TikTok, you’d know what the “For You” page is meant for. As a way of reminder, this page gives users a daily dose of content (videos) for their viewing pleasure. These suggestions base themselves on popular content or what you constantly view. For a while the ByteDance company’s algorithm has been in control of what you get to see on this page, now, that is coming to an end.
You might be sick and tired of seeing the videos on your “For You” page. This is especially if such content does not relate to you or what you like. With what TikTok is working on, users will soon be able to select the kind of content they want on their “For You” page.

Finally, the page will live up to its name since each individual will be able to pick his/her topic/category of interest. This freedom to choose what one wants to see will be made possible with filters. These filters will become available for most users in the coming weeks or months.
This feature won’t be a master of what it does at its launch as there will be areas lacking. TikTok will make this filter work based on texts and descriptions. But saying text, once a user filters off a particular word or text it’d no longer feature on their “For You” page.
This feature might also go further by using algorithms to pick on text within captions and stickers. If the text it picks features a word in the filter such videos won’t be available to the user. But, this might be one improvement we’ll see after this feature becomes available. Look forward to future updates which will bring this feature to your TikTok application. The rollout of this feature might come from one region to another once available.
