According to sources, the upcoming iPhone 14 model will offer a dedicated eSIM option. Citing a report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple considered removing the physical SIM from the package when it launched the iPhone 13 series. In the upcoming iPhone 14, Apple may still offer users a physical SIM card but may introduce an eSIM version.

This [eSIM] is a natural evolution,” said Jeff Howard, vice president of mobile devices and accessories for U.S. telecom operator AT&T. Users get a much better experience”. The report suggests that Apple will launch a dual-SIM (both eSIM and physical SIM support) version of the iPhone 14 in addition to a single SIM card.

Apple may not take an ‘aggressive’ approach: it will neither make all existing users switch to eSIM nor launch an eSIM-only version, but will launch a dual SIM version with eSIM+physical SIM,” the report reads. As time progresses, I believe more and more people will prefer to use sSIM, and Apple will wait for the right time to launch the eSIM-only version”.
