"On certain 2021-2023 Model X vehicles, the Restraint Control Module (RCM) calibration may cause the front passenger airbag to accidentally deploy in certain low-speed crash events. This could result in a violation of Sections 21.4 and 23.4 of FMVSS 208 when a 3- or 6-year-old front passenger is not wearing a seat belt or is incorrectly positioned."
According to the recall notice, Tesla began pushing an over-the-air software update earlier this week to address the issue:
"In low-speed collisions where a 3 or 6 year old front passenger is not wearing a seat belt and is incorrectly positioned, remedial OTA firmware updates ensure that the front passenger airbag complies with FMVSS 208 sections 21.4 and 23.4, while firmware release without remedial action does not ensure compliance."
As of November 8, 2022, Tesla is not aware of any warranty claims, field reports, collisions, injuries or fatalities related to this condition, according to the report.
