Tamron announced its first Nikon Z-mount lens A047, specifications 70-300mm F4.5-6.3, the product is under development, plans to market in the fall of 2022.
Tamron’s first Nikon Z-mount lens, the A047, was developed with the concept of “easy enjoyment of telephoto shooting” in mind, achieving lightness, compactness and high image quality, according to Tamron officials. In addition, the simple anti-drip construction can provide protection for outdoor shooting, BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating can provide excellent anti-reflection performance, many photographic aids to make shooting easy and convenient.

- Compact telephoto zoom
The A047 is designed for mirrorless cameras. By setting the F value at the telescopic end to F6.3, the lens achieves a length of 150.3mm, a maximum diameter of φ77mm, and a weight of 580g.
- Excellent optical performance and maneuverability
The A047’s optical design is based on in-depth simulations using Tamron’s new design technology to achieve both compactness and high image quality. 10 groups of 15 lenses are optimally configured with LD (Low Dispersion) lenses, which are effective in suppressing various aberrations such as axial chromatic aberrations that are more likely to occur in telephoto lenses.
- RXD stepper motor unit
The lens’ autofocus drive uses a high-precision lens position sensor and the RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit optimized for the autofocus control system.
Dedicated software TAMRON Lens Utility
The A047 with Nikon Z-mount system can use TAMRON Lens Utility, a dedicated software developed independently by Tamron, which allows users to easily update the firmware themselves without going through the camera. You can check the version of your own lens in the firmware information screen and upgrade if a new version of firmware exists.
A USB connection cable (Type-A to Type-C) is required for connection to a computer.
The A047 is not equipped with a focus setting button, so customization of various functions is not possible.
- Easy anti-drip construction
The lens barrel is equipped with anti-drip seals at major locations, such as the mechanically movable parts and the joint, to provide additional protection for outdoor shooting.
