According to TheElec, Samsung has sharply reduced its shipment target for its mid-range smartphone Galaxy A23 5G this year. The original plan was to ship 12.6 million units, but that has now dropped to less than 4 million units, a 70 percent drop.

Earlier this year, Samsung set a target of shipping 17.1 million Galaxy A23 4G and 12.6 million Galaxy A23 5G phones, They will ship a total of 30 million units or about 10 percent of Samsung’s total annual shipments.

The Galaxy A23 4G version was launched earlier this year, and the Galaxy A23 5G was launched later in the year.

A feature that was supposed to be on these phones caused serious problems with the phone’s operation.

Samsung spoke with various partners to resolve the issue. Samsung also conducted a month-long investigation into the issue to find out what the problem was.

Although the issue was resolved, the company is planning to reduce the production of the Galaxy A23 5G due to the trouble it caused. Samsung will also only aim to ship about 5 million units of the model in 2023.

The biggest change in Samsung’s development of the Galaxy A23 5G is a change in the preferred partner in development.

Sun Micro Optics has been selected as the developer of the 50-megapixel wide-angle primary camera with OIS anti-shake. For the Galaxy A23 4G, Patron has undertaken the same work.

The problems Samsung faced with the Galaxy A23 5G were not the fault of Sun Microsystems, sources said.

They said that the problems faced by the model caused other components of the phone, such as the camera, to perform poorly, so other unspecified problems were the root cause.

However, Samsung did inform Sun Microelectronics during the investigation that the manufacturer should have reacted earlier.

The Samsung Galaxy A23 5G scores are now available on Geekbench. This device will succeed the 4G variant that Samsung official launched in the month of March. The processor on this device is the Snapdragon 695 which will support 5g connections.

Information that we can gather from the Geekbench score page is its RAM capacity, processor, and Android version. The Snapdragon 695 processor comes with 8 cores and a base frequency of 1.80GHz, which is an upgrade from its successor. The memory on this device is 4GB worth of RAM, possibly an LPDDR4X version.

Lastly, this device will run the Samsung One UI skin on Android 12. This device will possibly receive OTA upgrades to Android 13 and more recent versions of One UI. We can make assumptions about other features of this device from the Galaxy A23.

The major upgrade on this device will be the processor, Samsung might as well add a few other features. But we can expect this device to use a 6.6-inch LCD screen. The camera configuration might also be similar to the available 4G variant. It is also possible that the battery capacity will also be, 5000mAh and support a 25W fast charge.

The Samsung Galaxy A23 5G won’t come with a charging brick or any other accessory in the box. A weird trend for mid-range devices that Samsung took with its A-series this year. From the model number, we can expect this device to launch in the US and possibly in Europe.
