EVGA, NVIDIA’s graphics partner, made a high-profile announcement in September last year that it was abandoning its graphics business, saying that the relationship had deteriorated due to “disrespectful treatment” by NVIDIA.

With the disappearance of the graphics business, EVGA product director Jacob Freeman announced his departure from the company on April 13, after 17 years at EVGA, where he was known to many users as one of the company’s “soul men”.

According to the latest news, Jacob Freeman has now joined Nvidia, jumping from one side of the conflict to the other.

Jacob Freeman Tweet

Jacob Freeman says he is pleased to announce that he has joined NVIDIA as a GeForce Evangelist, a role in which he will continue to work with the PC gaming community, media and influencers to develop new programs and features in the GeForce ecosystem.

After EVGA abandoned its graphics card business, an official eBay auction was held for a prototype RTX 4090 FTW3 card, with the proceeds going to charity.

EVGA has released new GE series power supplies, available in 800 W, 700 W, 600 W and 500 W versions.

The EVGA GE Series power supplies reportedly introduce EVGA ECO technology with low ripple/noise, low power consumption and tight voltage regulation for good stability, in addition to 80 PLUS Gold efficiency.

Officially, the GE Series is EVGA’s first non-modular power supply with EVGA ECO mode, which ensures that the power supply remains completely silent during low and medium loads. 120mm fans spin only when necessary, resulting in completely silent operation. Among EVGA non-modular power supplies, the GE series is the most efficient power supply and the model with the least ripple and noise.

Prices are $69.99 for the 500 GE (currently about RMB 482), $79.99 for the 600 GE (currently about RMB 550), $89.99 for the 700 GE (currently about RMB 619), and $99.99 for the EVGA 800 GE (currently about RMB 688).

EVGA abandoned the graphics card business, the official auction held on eBay RTX 4090 FTW3 prototype card activities, and the proceeds will be used for charity.

According to the latest news from OC3D, EVGA’s auction activity has been terminated by eBay, and now EVGA is auctioning the card in its forum.

EVGA’s auction on eBay reportedly had a high bid of $14,400 (about 100,000 RMB), but eBay quickly took the auction down because of the huge value of the item being sold and because EVGA’s eBay account was too new. Now, EVGA is hosting an auction on its forums. The current auction for the EVGA RTX 4090 will only ship to addresses in the US or Canada, and only EVGA forum members can bid on it.

In September of this year, EVGA announced that it would no longer be producing RTX or other graphics cards. While the company has made many EVT samples of the EVGA RTX 4090 FTW3 graphics card, it will not be in mass production and has shut down all active projects related to graphics cards – including the KINGPIN graphics card.

According to VideoCardz, EVGA has made some engineering samples of the RTX 4090 FTW3 card before making the decision to cancel the graphics card business. Some of these prototype cards were made available to YouTube users who work closely with EVGA. EVGA is currently auctioning off a prototype RTX 4090 card on eBay, with all net proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Hospital to support their research. The auction will end in 6 days and the current price is $13,200 (about RMB 92004).

In September this year, EVGA announced that it would no longer produce RTX or other graphics cards. For EVGA to exit the graphics market, which is somewhat sudden, NVIDIA responded by saying that it respects the company’s decision. The company’s CEO said, “The current generation of graphics cards (3 Series) is sold out and will not produce the next generation of graphics cards (4 Series), EVGA is still customer focused and will continue to sell existing graphics products and provide after-sales service. Thanks to the support and love of our fans over the years, the company’s business is limited to current products.”

It’s strange that a company that goes by the name EVGA doesn’t sell graphics cards (VGA). EVGA is often informed of retail pricing and material costs only after NVIDIA’s press conferences, and is tied to upstream vendors in terms of pricing and product specifications, sources said.

According to a research agency, EVGA has 40% of the North American graphics market share and is also quite strong in Western Europe, so it’s hard to say who will fill the vacuum after its departure.

Of course, EVGA announced that it will not continue to cooperate with NV, but also stated that it will not cooperate with AMD and Intel graphics cards, and is completely out of the graphics market.

After the current stock of graphics cards is sold out, EVGA also has no intention of switching to the A-card camp, and the company will move on to other IT products, such as EVGA-branded power supplies, coolers, motherboards, etc. Perhaps the company has found that PC power supplies are the biggest business opportunity after the 4-series launch, and it’s much easier to make money selling power supplies than graphics cards.

In response to such behavior, NVIDIA responded, “We have built a great partnership with EVGA over the years and will continue to support them on our current products. We wish Andrew and our friends at EVGA all the best.”
