Samsung Galaxy A54 5G receives first firmware update: Enhanced camera performance

Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy A54 5G mid-range phone is getting its first firmware update, and it’s not a minor update with a regular security patch. Samsung claims that the first update to the Galaxy A54 5G improves the camera performance.

The update is available for the international version of the Galaxy A54 phone with model number SM-A546B, version number A546BXXU1AWC4. It does not contain a new security patch and comes with a patch for February 2023.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 camera experience is good, with OIS optical stabilization and flagship auto-focus features.

The official changelog also mentions that several apps may be updated with this version, including AR-Zone, Samsung Notes plugin, Alarm Clock, Wearable, Global Goals, Kids, Free, Internet, Samsung Health, SmartThings, Galaxy Shop, Samsung Members, Wallet, TV Plus, Calculator, Smart Switch, and Voice Recorder.

The update will be available for new Galaxy A54 5G phones. To install it, open the Settings app on your device, navigate to Software Update, and then click Download and Install.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 features a new Exynos 1380 chip, a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh and 1000 nits peak brightness, a 5000mAh battery with 25W charging, and One UI 5.1 based on Android 13. 32MP main camera on the front and 50MP main camera on the back (with OTP support). 32MP main camera on the front, 50MP main camera (with OIS optical stabilization and dual-pixel autofocus), 12MP ultra wide-angle lens and 5MP macro lens. It starts at $449.99 in the U.S. (currently about RMB 3,073).
