Red Magic announced the Magic 8 Pro series phone will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Qualcomm officially released the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform today. The Red Magic just announced that the Red Magic 8 Pro series will be the first gaming phone equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Snapdragon 8 Gen2 adopts a 4nm process and uses a Cortex-X3-based Kryo super-large core with the main frequency of 3.2GHz and 4 performance cores (2 x Cortex A715+ 2 x Cortex A710, both at 2.8GHz ), 3 Cortex-A510 energy efficiency cores (small core, frequency 2.0GHz). Compared with the Snapdragon 8, the final CPU performance is increased by 35%, and the power consumption is reduced by 40%. A new generation of Adreno GPU, with 25% performance improvement and 45% power consumption reduction, supports Vulkan 1.3 and supports hardware-level ray tracing technology.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen2 integrates the new Hexagon processor, the tensor unit is greatly enhanced, and the performance of some scenarios is claimed to have increased by 4.35 times. Equipped with X70 5G baseband and the new FastConnect 7800 unit, it supports 5G dual-card dual-pass (downlink up to 10Gbps), Wi-Fi 7 (up to 5.8Gbps, twice Wi-Fi 6), Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth LE audio, 48kHz lossless audio, spatial audio, etc.

In addition, the new sensory ISP (three 18bit) supports Samsung and Sony’s latest CMOS, with a single maximum of 200 million pixels, and supports up to 8K 30P or 4K 120P video shooting.

The first batch of Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will be equipped with Xiaomi, Redmi, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, OV and other manufacturers, and new phones will be launched at the end of 2022.
