Realtek showcases newest Wi-Fi 7 module, expected to launch in Q4

According to TechPowerUp, Realtek demonstrated its latest Wi-Fi 7 client module at the Taipei Computer Show, model RTL8922AE.

As shown in the figure above, the RTL8922AE Wi-Fi 7 module is available in M.2 2230 format and 1620 soldered modules.

According to official tests, the latest Wi-Fi 7 module can achieve a transmission rate of 1948Mbps. Officials also ran another wireless connection during the test to simulate real-world interference scenarios.

In addition, the RTL8922AE module also supports Bluetooth 5.4 protocol, improved BLE audio and Auracast technology.

According to the official specification sheet, this Wi-Fi 7 module can reach a rate of 2880Mbps when utilizing both 5GHz and 6GHz band bandwidth. It should be noted that this module is temporarily limited to 160 MHz channels, while WiFi 7 can support 320 MHz channels.

According to foreign media, the RTL8922AE Wi-Fi 7 module is expected to be launched to customers in the fourth quarter of this year, and may not appear on the market until early 2024.

In terms of router solutions, Realtek showed the latest roadmap, including BE3600, 6400, 6500 dual-band models and BE7200, 9400 tri-band models, which will be launched as early as the third quarter of 2024. It can be seen from the model number that Realtek mainly targets the low-end market of WiFi 7 routers.
