Nio and Dolby are pulling their resources together to offer better audio quality on cars. This partnership would level the electric carmaker with other manufacturers that offer spatial audio. Development processes put in place will help Nio vehicles deliver a 3D audio experience from the car speakers.
Originally announced last year, the integration of Dolby Atmos on Nio technology will do away with any audio hindrance. Such hindrances can come in the form of the position of the speaker and the interior build of the vehicle. For those who wish to blast their favourite songs while driving, this Nio and Dolby partnership will offer them a better experience.
Why is immersive audio important in a car? Well, 3D audio offers an immersive experience while listening to music from speakers that support it. What this means is that sound coming from speakers with 3D audio seems to surround a listener. This feature was previously available only on high-end luxury vehicles. Bringing it to more affordable Nio cars will be to give more users luxury performance at a more affordable price.
Last year, Nio and Dolby via their official websites announced this partnership. The first Nio vehicle to feature 3D audio will be the ET7. This flagship EV comes with a 150kWh battery and an extra-long NEDC range of 1000km. This car is available for purchase via Nio online store or dealership in Asia and Europe.
