The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released its response to the fifth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) Recommendation No. 2276 on September 16. It is proposed therein that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will, in the next step, focus on promoting methanol vehicles, supporting the development of the methanol vehicle industry, exploring new models of green methanol vehicles, etc., and increase its efforts to promote the development of methanol economy.
(A) accelerate the promotion of methanol vehicles. Summarize the good experience and good practices achieved in the pilot areas of methanol vehicles, increase publicity and promotion efforts to improve social recognition of methanol vehicles. Support Jinzhong City and other pilot areas according to local conditions, to further accelerate the promotion of methanol passenger cars, methanol heavy trucks and other commercial vehicles.
(B) continue to support the development of the methanol vehicle industry. Promote the enhancement of methanol vehicle technology innovation capabilities, improve the level of technical equipment, update and improve supporting standards, and improve the technical capabilities of the entire methanol vehicle industry chain. Encourage enterprises to face the needs of consumers, without breaking through the existing production capacity, optimize the product structure, achieve product diversification, provide consumers with more choices, and promote the promotion of the private car sector.
(C) to explore the “green methanol + methanol car” new model. Promote the implementation of the “Guidance Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of Petrochemical and Chemical Industry in the 14th Five-Year Plan”, and encourage petrochemical and chemical enterprises to develop and utilize “green hydrogen” in a reasonable and orderly manner. Encourage Jinzhong City to give full play to the advantages of the coal chemical industry, promote the coupling development of the coal chemical industry and “green hydrogen” and “green electricity” industries, and accelerate the large-scale production of green methanol. Support the promotion of methanol vehicles, and explore new green methanol vehicles in the field of transportation to reduce carbon emissions.
(D) promote the study of double-trailer standards. Closely track the progress of the National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee to carry out double trailer standard pre-study, combined with the needs of industrial development, and timely promote the relevant standards for the manufacture and revision.
