ByteDance’s Pico to release new VR headset on September 22

Pico, a subsidiary of ByteDance, has announced that it will hold an online launch event on September 22, and the company is widely expected to release its next-generation VR headset device called Pico 4 or Pico Phoenix. According to information leaked so far, the new product will come in two configurations, with the Pro version offering face and eye tracking, and will run Android Q and be powered by Qualcomm processors.

Pico’s new headset will also reportedly feature an inside-out RGB camera for mixed reality (MR) experience. This is similar to Meta’s Project Cambria headset, which will be officially unveiled in October.

Foreign media reports say that Bytebox has clearly positioned Pico 4 as a VR hardware competitor to Meta, and has worked hard in recent months to reposition Pico from a company primarily focused on enterprise VR to a mass-market consumer hardware maker.
