Microsoft is encouraging developers to advertise their apps in the Windows App Store

0

Microsoft Corp. today revealed that the Microsoft App Store advertising program, launched as a pilot program back in September 2022, is now available to all app developers.

These ads will be displayed in the “Search Results and Apps & Games tab of the Microsoft Store app on Windows”, as shown in the image below.

According to a Microsoft blog post, developers can now place ads in the store through Microsoft Advertising. Developers must already have an app in the store to place any ad campaign through this new program, and they can promote a brand new app through ads or make major updates to an existing app. The company also promises competitive cost-per-click (CPC) rates. They can run ad campaigns that put their apps in front of an audience that might like similar apps. For example, a racing game could be advertised in the store for racing game fans.

In addition, in a separate announcement, Microsoft said it is now allowing all Win32 developers to upload their desktop applications for sale in the Microsoft Store, which includes desktop applications made in .NET, C++, Electron, Flutter, Qt, Rust, etc. These applications must run on Windows 10 or 11.
