This June, game producer Hideo Kojima made a surprise appearance at the Microsoft Xbox & Bethesda Game Show, announcing that he would bring a “new experience” to Xbox players, a game described as the game Hideo Kojima always wanted to create, claiming that “No one has ever experienced or seen it before”.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Hideo Kojima talked about the Xbox game and, in his usual boastful tone, claimed that the project could “turn the tide” not only for the gaming industry but also for the movie industry.
Hideo Kojima said: “The project is almost like a new form of media. If it succeeds, it will turn things around — not only in the game industry but in the movie industry as well.”
Hideo Kojima’s games have always included numerous cinematic narratives, and his Twitter introduction even directly states, “70% of my body is made up of movies.” It is unclear how Hideo Kojima will change games and movies, Microsoft has also previously released plot-driven games such as “Quantum Break”, and we can look forward to a new breakthrough in their collaboration.
The game will make use of Microsoft’s cloud technology, but no specific details were revealed. Hideo Kojima said, “With Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud technology and changing industry trends, it’s now possible to challenge yourself to create this never-before-seen concept. It will take some time, but I’m looking forward to working with Xbox Game Studios and bringing you some exciting news in the future.”
