Since it entered the gaming stage two years ago, Google Stadia has been struggling to define its niche. As a result of this struggle, makers of the cloud gaming service are shutting down the platform. This is just another project that Google has brought to an end after it got the attention of some users across the globe.

Stadia is a cloud gaming service, that enables users to play games directly from the cloud without the need for a console. All players need is a subscription to the platform and stable internet access, and they can play some of their favourite games. Ever since its inception back in 2019 Google’s cloud gaming service has been able to provide some popular games for its community

Despite their efforts, Google Stadia didn’t get the traction that it expected to get, hence prompting Its relatively early demise. According to the team working with the Stadia project, the service will shut down within the month of January 2023. Players currently gaming on the platform will be let to complete their sessions until January when the platform will be taken down.

For the hardware and add-ons purchases made via the Google Store and Stadia website, there will be a refund to existing customers. Now that Google is gradually stepping out of the cloud gaming industry with the shutdown of Stadia, the competition might ease off for other players. The likes of the Logitech G Cloud gaming console and the all-new AYANEO 2 might have a chance to scoop up the Google Stadia customers, offering them cloud gaming services.
