Google launched a large number of new features at CES today and announced that it would cooperate with Samsung to develop a new Quick Share, designed to replace the Google Nearby Share nearby sharing system launched in 2020.
According to Google, the new version of Quick Share combines the best of both worlds and is a best-of-both-worlds solution designed to be the best built-in option for peer-to-peer content sharing between Android and Chrome OS devices.
In addition, Google also said that they are working with “leading PC manufacturers” such as LG to pre-install new versions of Quick Share on Windows PCs in the future. At that point, you can simply click on the Quick Share icon to see a list of nearby devices that can be shared.
Of course, you can also choose who can discover your device and send you files (everyone, contacts only, or your own devices only). Google says it expects the new version of Quick Share to start rolling out to devices that currently support Nearby Share in February.
It was previously reported that Google Nearby Share for Windows began testing in April last year and was officially launched in May. Through this application, users can quickly send and receive photos, documents, etc. on Android phones and Windows PCs.
