BMW showed two concept cars at the CES 2023 exhibition, both called i Vision Dee. Dee stands for Digital Emotional Experience. One of the models is able to change the color of the car in response to the driver’s emotions.
BMW showed a “color-changing” concept car at last year’s CES, but it just changed into various shades of gray. This year, the i Vision Dee changes through a full color palette, with different parts of the body showing different colors at the same time. Even the wheels change color.
Cars also have head-up displays, but in the i Vision Dee concept car, the display extends across the entire windshield. BMW says this particular feature is a vehicle it plans to put into actual production starting in 2025. As with other heads-up displays, the projected image may include navigation cues or more, and is usually mostly transparent.
