Asus: PC business expected to decline 15% in the fourth quarter from the previous year

PC maker Asus held a press conference today and announced its third-quarter earnings. According to the data, ASUS reported third-quarter revenue of NT$132.935 billion (30.309 billion yuan), up 15 percent sequentially and 2 percent year-on-year.

During the reporting period, ASUS reported gross operating profit of NT$15.409 billion (approximately RMB3.513 billion), up 10 percent sequentially and down 36 percent year-over-year, and operating income of NT$3.057 billion (approximately RMB697 million), up 56 percent sequentially and down 72 percent year-over-year.

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, ASUS expects PC shipments to decrease by 15 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter of this year; component products are expected to grow by 5 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter as demand is driven by new platforms and new model launches.

In addition, Asustek’s revenue for October this year was NT$40.318 billion (approximately RMB9.152 billion), down 32.6% sequentially and 10.4% year-over-year; cumulative revenue for the first 10 months of this year was NT$450.434 billion (approximately RMB102.249 billion), up 5.2% year-over-year.
