Plugable Announces USB-C Docking Station: Apple M1/M2 Mac Supports Up to 4 External Displays

Plugable’s new Quad HDMI adapter lets Apple users support up to four external displays on a single M1 Mac.

Plugable says its new USB-to-HDMI adapter is perfect for multitasking or expanding your workspace. Connected via a single USB-C cable, the docking station supports four displays, each with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 60Hz or less.

The Dock is ideal for running Office-related applications such as Google Docs or Microsoft Office, and IT House has learned that the company does not recommend the product for gaming or other graphics-intensive work. HDCP-protected content on websites, including Netflix and Hulu, is not supported.

In general, support for external displays on Macs has some limitations. On a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, the M1 chip can connect to 1 external display via USB-C. Mac mini supports 1 display via HDMI, and 1 display via USB-C.

Plugable says the adapter allows any M1 or M2 Mac to run up to four displays. Driver installation is required through the InstantView app.

The Plugable USB-C or USB 3.0 Quad HDMI adapter is available for $119 (about RMB 863).
