Apple’s new AR/VR headset patent approved: handle iPhone mail in a virtual world

According to foreign technology media MacRumors, Apple plans to bring the Continuity (continuous intercommunication) function to the upcoming VR / AR headset, which can also achieve a seamless experience between the device and virtual reality.

The Continuity feature allows you to use your iPhone as a Mac camera between different devices; you can make and receive calls without picking up your iPhone; your Mac can automatically unlock when you wear an Apple Watch, and many other functions.

According to the patent list published by the European Patent Office last week, Apple has obtained a patent titled “Multi-Device Continuity for Extended Reality (XR) Systems”, which envisions how the headset can be linked with other Apple devices in the future.

One of the examples is as follows. When the wearer of the headset checks emails on the iPhone screen, an extended mail application interface will float on the iPhone screen.

Users can interact with gestures or gaze, and users can also move the email interface from the top of the iPhone screen to the virtual reality world, zoom in and send and receive emails and other related operations.

In another example, the headset wearer can do something similar with the HomePod, seeing the volume control screen in the virtual interface directly after seeing the HomePod in the line of sight and being able to control it.
