“Apple Store Time Machine” takes you on a virtual tour of four iconic stores from different eras

0

Four famous Apple Stores, including the first one, have been perfectly recreated in a new app that lovingly takes you back to a time when everyone was crazy about the iPod. Michael Steeber previously created a virtual version of the new Apple Store in the Bronx. But now he’s launched a Mac app that recreates key moments from all four stores in detail.

“Travel back in time and relive the grand opening days of four iconic Apple Stores,” Steeber writes on its website.” The Apple Store Time Machine is a tribute to the places and products that have shaped our lives for more than two decades. This interactive experience recreates memorable moments in Apple’s history with careful detail and historical accuracy.”

The four stores that can be recreated are

The Tysons Corner store on May 19, 2001

The Stamford Mall store on October 16, 2004

The Fifth Avenue store on May 19, 2006

The Apple Infinite Loop corporate headquarters store on September 19, 2015

Users can “walk” through the store among the apps and see products you had forgotten about, plus rows and rows of software boxes. There are even clips of Steve Jobs talking as you move through the store.

All four stores are truly beautiful recreations, and clicking through them is sure to trigger memories of the period, even if you haven’t visited these Apple Stores in person.

Unlike reality, none of these Apple Stores are occupied.
