Apple receives patent for door security camera: can accurately identify visitors

0

According to Patently Apple, Apple has recently been granted a patent for a door security camera design. According to the patent, the camera system has face recognition capabilities and can communicate with the HomePod mini and Smart TV+.

Apple acquired Lighthouse in March 2019, and the patent application is from two engineers at Lighthouse.

In one implementation, the device would be able to perform facial recognition to identify a specific person when it detects the presence of a specific object (such as a face or body) walking in. The device can further identify the physical characteristics of a particular person from a first video feed, for example, based on the analysis of other physical characteristics of the particular person (including, for example, their torso, the clothes they are wearing, etc.).

Apple’s camera system will use deep learning models to train itself to improve its ability to accurately identify a particular person.
