Gautam Adani, Asia’s richest man and the third richest super-rich man in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, says he has been experimenting with OpenAI’s AI chatbot ChatGPT and admits to being a bit addicted.
In an article published after attending the World Economic Forum 2023, Gautam Adani wrote: “I must admit that since I started using the recently released ChatGPT, I have become a bit addicted to it. Considering ChatGPT’s amazing capabilities and comical failures, it can be seen as a transformative moment in the democratization of AI.”
Gautam Adani, known for founding Indian energy and logistics giant Adani Group, added:- “But there is no doubt that generative AI (AIGC) will have a huge impact.”
Gautam Adani’s comments come as ChatGPT received a lot of attention at this year’s World Economic Forum, where its impressive capabilities continue to wow businesses and curious users alike, while also sparking debate about how it can be applied in an ethical manner in the real world.
Since AI research firm OpenAI released ChatGPT to the public at the end of November last year, AI has been used to write children’s books, compose cover letters, and even generate responses for matches on dating apps.
At the same time, the rise of ChatGPT has led to plagiarism, cheating and other consequences, prompting many schools to ban its use. The use of Koko, a digital mental health company, to generate responses without informing users has also raised ethical questions.
Some believe it will put artisans, tutors, programmers and writers out of work. Others are more optimistic, believing it will allow employees to tackle to-do lists with greater efficiency.
As companies continue to invest in technology, these use cases give us just a first glimpse of how robots will change our daily lives.
On Monday, US local time, Microsoft announced it would invest billions of dollars in the developers of ChatGPT, while Google announced plans to integrate AI chatbot functionality into Google Search after releasing a ‘code red’ to address the growth of ChatGPT.
Gautam Adani compared the transformative nature of ChatGPT to the sea change in the global chip industry and explained how the rise of semiconductors has given rise to tech giants such as Intel, Qualcomm and TSMC. These companies make the chips that help us run our smartphones, laptops, kitchen appliances and other consumer devices.
