Apple adds 2014 iPhone 6 to obsolete list

Apple updated its Obsolete Products list to include the iPhone 6, as it’s been more than five years since the device was released, but the iPhone 6 was released in some unique conditions, so its addition to the list is a little different.

The iPhone 6 was released in September 2014 alongside the iPhone 6 Plus, it continued to be sold in 2015 as a lower-priced option after the launch of the iPhone 6s before being discontinued in 2016 when the iPhone 7 was launched. Interestingly, it was relaunched in 2017 as a low-cost iPhone in selected countries and continued to be sold until September 2018, arguably a surprisingly long life cycle.

Earlier this year, the iPhone 6 Plus, the sister phone to the iPhone 6, was added to this list.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are the first devices to offer Apple Pay support and the first time Apple has offered a multi-size option for the iPhone. Since the release of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple has maintained its strategy of releasing products in multiple sizes.

Devices on the Obsolete Products list are typically Apple products that are five and seven years old and for which Apple provides service and parts for up to seven years, or as required by law, but repairs are subject to parts availability.

Obsolete products, on the other hand, are products that Apple stopped selling seven years ago, for which all hardware service is discontinued for products that have become significantly obsolete, except for Mac laptops that are eligible for battery replacement.

In addition to adding the iPhone 6 to the obsolete product list, Apple has also moved the 2012 iPod nano 7 and fifth-generation iPod touch from the obsolete product list to the obsolete product list, while the 2015 iPod nano model is now classified as obsolete. the 2012 fourth-generation iPod shuffle was moved to the obsolete list, while the 2015 versions are now listed as obsolete.
