Amazon.com Inc on Monday inaugurated its own air cargo fleet — Amazon Air — in India as it seeks to expand and speed up deliveries in one of its key markets, Reuters reported.

India is the third market for the company to launch Amazon Air, after the United States and Europe. Amazon.com, which started the service in the US in 2016, operates a network of more than 110 aircraft flying to more than 70 locations worldwide.

Amazon has partnered with Bangalore-based cargo company Quikjet Cargo Airline Private Ltd, which will use a Boeing 737-800 jet to deliver cargo, Amazon said in a statement.Quikjet will transport Amazon customers’ cargo to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.

Amazon said the launch of Amazon Air will support more than 1.1 million sellers in the country.

Amazon uses its own ground delivery service for shipping and also partners with Blue Dart Express Ltd (BLDT.NS), one of India’s largest air cargo companies controlled by Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPWGn.DE).
