YouTube Premium subscription gets a price hike for its family plan

YouTube Premium is increasing their subscription payment for the family plan by $5 and this will go into effect starting November 21.

The family plan for YouTube Premium is getting a $5 price hike, which will affect all subscriptions from November 21. This increment is coming as a shock to some users around the world as they will be paying more than their original $17.99 which is the current family plan price. Google does not state the reason for this increase in pricing in the email it sent to its subscribers hours ago.

Asides from the family plan on YouTube Premium, other plans such as the individual tier retain their previous pricing. The hike in pricing will only affect the users of the family plan effective November 21 in certain regions. Our sources also inform us that some long-standing users will not be getting any price hike until the month of April next year.

This price increment will come as a shock to most subscribers, as well as raise concerns about similar upgrades to come in the new future. Sadly, the increase does not bring new features that will be exclusive to the family subscription tier. For $5 extra, users get to enjoy the same service they had access to at the previous pricing.

As we already know, team YouTube backtracked on its test to make 4K video streaming exclusive to premium users. So, users of the YouTube Premium family plan can as well hope that this might as well take the turn that the 4K exclusivity test took. With a payment of $22.99 for the family plan, users get ad-free streaming on YouTube, YouTube Music and a few other options.
