YouTube handle is a new feature coming to the long-form video-sharing platform to make it more like a social media application. An update regarding this new feature was made available by YouTube to its users globally and the feature will roll out in the coming months. With the coming feature, users will be able to tag creators and each other under both the long-form and shorts video comment sections.

YouTube now allows its users to pick unique handles for themselves until November 14 which is just a few weeks away. By the deadline, users who have not set their handle name will automatically get their handles. Setting up the unique handle is simple as YouTube is sharing the setup link via emails to all users globally.

With the new YouTube handle feature, users will begin tagging one another by using the @ feature, like with some social media applications. So instead of sharing that video with your friends via a link, tag them, and they will get to see the video on their notification tab. This feature is open to all users, both creators and viewers, and can serve so many purposes for both parties.

The handles can also help creators promote their channels on other platforms by adding a unique tag. Searching for your favourite content creator will be possible by just typing their YouTube handle on the search bar. In a few weeks, we will start seeing real-time usage of this coming feature across the YouTube community.
