Windows 11 hidden feature: reinstall the system without media directly through Windows Update

0

Microsoft released the latest Windows 11 Build 25284 preview in Dev Channel yesterday. However, the company has hidden some features in the code in addition to those written out in the announcement, and coincidentally, someone has now unearthed a very useful little feature.

It’s a new feature called “Fix issues with Windows Update” or “Fix upgrade / Fix install” and it can be enabled with the help of vivetool /enable /id:42550315.

In short, this feature helps users to reinstall the currently used version of the system without using any installation file/media/media (ISO image, USB stick or DVD disc), which is faster and more refreshing than a direct restore.

As of now, the feature may still have some imperfections, so Microsoft did not include it in the official changelog, but it is already supported for normal use. If the screen in front of you think it is useful may wish to try it.

Microsoft usually only releases some specific versions of ISO images, and often there are some followers of the latest version of Win11 enthusiasts, but if you choose to use the official ISO reinstallation system, the probability is that you still have to manually upgrade to the latest version number.

So, when you turn on this feature, just click on the “Windows Update” screen in “Settings” to achieve a pure installation, which is fast and easy.
