After last month’s brutal test of the new Galaxy Z Fold4, JerryRigEverything now shares a scratch, grill and bend test of the new Galaxy Z Flip4 folding screen with a flip-top design. The Galaxy Z Fold4 passed the channel’s “durability test”, even if it didn’t quite make it to its best condition. The “little brother” Galaxy Z Flip4 was a little less impressive, but not too fragile.

For starters, the Galaxy Z Flip4 has a glass-covered outer screen that can handle level 6 scratches (Mohs hardness) with relative ease.
However, at 7 levels of hardness, the glass of the machine’s outer screen shows deeper dents.
Turning over the inner screen reveals the Galaxy Z Flip4’s flexible panel, which requires relatively more care and attention.
Due to the limitations of the current material technology, the outer film of the folded inner screen only has about 2 levels of scratch resistance, and 3 levels of hardness will leave deep marks — meaning that even fingernails can damage the screen.
Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold4, the Galaxy Z Flip4 features an aluminum center frame, buttons and SIM card tray as well.
The body material is more prone to dirt, but the related violence test program was able to advance fairly smoothly.
Unfortunately, the inner screen protector is difficult to withstand open flames — after all, it’s essentially just a layer of plastic, which understandably melts under high temperatures.
Finally, there was the classic violent bending session, during which the Galaxy Z Flip4 did not make a strange popping sound, despite being bent backward quite a bit.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 basically works fine after the wheeling and dealing with the problem, except for the fact that it doesn’t close completely. Of course, the above brutality test is just to get an idea of the durability of today’s folding screen devices, and we don’t recommend anyone to imitate it easily.
