Android smartphones have been known to have a lift-up camera design for full-screen design reasons, as represented by OPPO, but this design has not been well received by the market. However, ViewSonic believes that there is still a place for elevated camera designs in the monitor space, with the newly launched VG56V series of monitors featuring elevated cameras.

ViewSonic believes that the use of an elevated camera on a monitor not only reduces the thickness of the bezel on the forehead but more importantly gives the user a more intuitive way of knowing if the camera is in use.

On the elevated camera unit, there are LED flashlights on the left and right sides, which can also be adjusted according to the color temperature. The entire unit can be tilted backward and forwards by 5 degrees.

The display of course also incorporates its own dual speakers and a dual microphone, with what is officially described as an “industry-leading audio focus to eliminate unwanted background noise”, allowing users to conduct web conferences with peace of mind.

The lineup includes the 24-inch model of the VG2456V, which features an FHD / 2 megapixel camera, and the higher-end 27-inch model, the VG2756V-2K, which features a 2K / 5 megapixel camera.

The ViewSonic’s online shop in the US currently lists the VG246V for $358.99 (currently about Rs. 2434) and the VG2756V-2K for $480.99 (currently about Rs. 3261).
