Tesla Model Y delivery time in Europe extended again after price cut

Europe has been able to meet the demand for new cars for a long time as production capacity at Tesla’s Berlin super factory rises. However, after Tesla announced a price hike in Europe, the European-origin Model Y is once again in short supply.

Tesla’s latest round of price cuts saw the Model Y RWD reduced by 17%, compared to 4% for the dual motor AWD and 1% for the performance Model Y.

As can be seen from Tesla’s Model Y order page in Germany, the estimated delivery date for the base Model Y has been updated. Before the price drop, the model’s expected delivery date was January 2023 to March 2023, the expected delivery has been extended to February 2023 to March 2023.

However, the expected delivery dates for the Model Y Twin Motor AWD version and the Model Y Performance version remain unchanged, at January 2023 to March 2023.

According to a statement by Brandenburg’s Minister of Economics Joerg Steinbach on Thursday, production at the Berlin super factory is being accelerated in order to reduce customer waiting times.

The Model Y currently starts at €44,890 (currently around RMB 330,000 ) in Germany. For reference, the Model Y RWD used to be €53,990 (currently around RMB. 397,000) and offers a WLTP range of 283 miles (currently around 455.44 km) and a 0-60 mph time of 6.6 seconds.

Despite the delays, the Model Y is still being delivered faster than all of its competitors, the press notes. The Hyundai Ioniq 5, for example, is currently taking around 6-9 months to be delivered, while the Audi Q4 e-tron in the US is even taking 12-18 months.
