Ubisoft’s “Hungry Shark” series of games announced that the global downloads exceeded 1 billion times, becoming Ubisoft’s most downloaded mobile game series.
Developed by Ubisoft Future Games, the “Hungry Shark” series of games tells the story of sharks frantically foraging in the world’s oceans. The first “Hungry Shark” game was released in 2010 and was developed by a team of seven.
Players need to control sharks, including mako sharks, great white sharks, hammerhead sharks, reef sharks, megamouth sharks, megalodon sharks, and other unique species of sharks. The player has to eat other sea creatures in order for the shark to grow up until it evolves. After that, the player can buy the next more powerful shark.
In May 2016, the fifth game in the series “Hungry Shark: World” broke through 10 million downloads in six days, and successfully squeezed into the top ten of the iPhone and Android free apps list. In 2018, “Hungry Shark: World” was released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch platforms. In 2018, Hungry Shark was nominated for Best Casual Game by the Independent Game Development Association.
