Beijing, May 14 – Twitter’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino tweeted Saturday that she has been inspired by boss Elon Musk’s vision of creating a brighter future and is excited to help transform the social media platform.

This is the first time Linda Yaccarino has spoken publicly since it was revealed on Thursday that she was expected to become Twitter’s CEO. Elon Musk, who has served as Twitter’s CEO since acquiring the company for $44 billion last October, announced on Friday that he had named Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO.

Thank you,” Linda Yaccarino said Saturday in response to Elon Musk’s appointment tweet. I have long been inspired by your vision to create a brighter future. I’m excited to help bring that vision to Twitter and transform this business together!”

She said she was inspired by Elon Musk

At the same time, she’s shouting out to Twitter users that their feedback is critical. “I see I’ve got some new followers… I’m not as prolific (in tweeting) as Elon Musk, but I’m equally committed to the future of the platform. Your feedback is critical to the future of Twitter. That’s what I’m here for. Let’s keep the conversation going and build Twitter 2.0 together!”

Right now, the Twitter that Linda Yaccarino will take over is in trouble, as the platform has been trying to turn around plummeting ad revenue and is plagued by challenges and a heavy debt load. Since Elon Elon Musk bought Twitter, advertisers have fled the platform, fearing their ads might appear next to inappropriate content. Elon Musk acknowledged earlier this year that Twitter’s ad revenue had plummeted. The company also previously lost nearly 80% of its employees.

While Elon Musk said Linda Yaccarino would help build a “universal app” that would allow Twitter to offer a variety of services, such as peer-to-peer payments, his choice of an advertising veteran as CEO suggests that digital advertising will continue to be a core business for Twitter.

Elon Musk has long said he intends to find a new leader for Twitter. He said last week that having Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO would help him devote more time to Tesla.
