Twitter (Twitter) recently released an update to the terms of the Developer Agreement, which explicitly does not allow developers to continue to develop third-party Twitter applications. The terms clearly mention that developers are not allowed to “create alternative or similar services/products for Twitter applications”.
This means that Tweetbot, Twitterrific, Aviary, Echofon, Birdie and other third-party Twitter apps are no longer working properly, and it’s not clear if these third-party clients will be accessible again in the future.
Twitter officials quietly adjusted the API last Thursday, causing a large number of third-party clients to fail to work properly. Twitter is enforcing its long-standing API rules,” the official tweet said on Jan. 18. This may cause some applications to not work”.
Twitter never even specified which APIs were violated.
