Twitter tweaks for mobile: No longer forcing the “For You” tab on the homepage

0

In the interface adjustment of mobile Twitter in January this year, the homepage was divided into two tabs: “Recommended for you” and “Following”.

By default, Twitter will select the “Recommended for you” tab, which means that the content of this tab is recommended by an algorithm, not entirely published by bloggers who follow fans.

After a backlash from users, Twitter’s official support account tweeted today that the Twitter app for Android and iOS could allow users to set the default home page. Many users welcomed the change below the tweet.

Foreign technology media The Verge has tested the new version of the Twitter app for Android and iOS, which can now remember the user’s option to close the previous homepage. For example, after the user switches to the “Following” tab and closes the app, it will still be the “Following” tab when it is opened again.

Twitter does not officially have a dedicated option for users to choose between the “Recommended for you” and “Following” tabs.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first or second time Twitter has tried a different timeline. Back in 2019, a similar feature was added to iOS. However, the platform eventually abandoned the idea and went back to the regular timeline, as the new timeline did not meet with user approval.
