Twitter employees keep leaving: exhausted by Musk

Twitter employees have reportedly become fed up with the company’s previous litigation battle with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, leading to a steady stream of departures in recent weeks, according to several Twitter insiders.

In April, Musk announced that he was buying Twitter for about $44 billion in cash, but on July 9, Musk announced that he was terminating the deal, and on July 13, Twitter took Musk to court, and on July 20, a judge announced that the case would be heard in October.

But according to Twitter insiders, a steady stream of Twitter employees have left the company in recent weeks. The reason is that they’ve grown tired of the stagnant drama.

One current employee who is looking to leave Twitter said, “I’m mentally exhausted.” Another employee said that miscommunication between employees and Twitter over the “takeover” has resulted in many employees actually losing respect for the company’s leadership.

And one former employee who recently left Twitter said that Twitter is currently losing at least one group of employees a week. In severe cases, two to three groups of employees may leave each week.

A document shows that so many employees have left recently that Twitter has changed the way it classifies attrition, specifically introducing a reason to “leave due to Musk’s acquisition.

The U.S. Court of Chancery in Delaware will hear the case for five days on Oct. 17 of this year. Both Twitter and Musk are currently seeking extensive communications and documents from each other to better defend themselves ahead of the trial.

In May, Twitter said it would suspend hiring and cut costs. Due to changes in business needs, Twitter will reorganize its talent acquisition team and reduce the number of employees. Last month, it was reported that Twitter’s talent acquisition team would be cutting 30 percent of its workforce, affecting about 100 people.
