Twitter co-founder builds decentralized social app Bluesky on App Store

The Bluesky app recently hit the iOS App Store, but it’s still invite-only and not open to the public at this stage.

All users interested in this app can download it through the App Store. The App Store application page as follows: “This application is available for download, but you will need an invitation code to create an account”.

Bluesky’s official website still doesn’t show many details about the social network or its availability. The only thing users can do is enter their email addresses on a waiting list to get an invite. But thanks to the App Store page, we now have a general idea of what Bluesky will look like.

But behind the scenes, Bluesky is based on the AT protocol (originally called ADX, or Authentication Delivery Protocol). AT is similar to ActivityPub, the decentralized protocol that powers Mastodon — another social network that in some ways is very similar to Twitter.
